Rocky Mountain Excavating, Inc. was a subcontractor for three of the RTD Light Rail Stations along the I225 corridor. RME provided all excavation and backfill, installation of waterlines, and fine grading for all of the new concrete structures at each of the stations. We formed and poured all 3’-6” stem walls. The specifications at the stations had a maximum tolerance of 1/8th of 1” for the straightness of the walls over a 400 LF run on each side of the station and this achieved this with little rework. We formed, placed, and finished the platform sections of the station which consisted of setting 800 LF of detectable warnings at the edge of the slab. Due to the tight tolerances on cross slopes and joint patterns RME utilized a checkerboard pour to accomplish this. Rocky Mountain Excavating, Inc. was awarded the Monthly Safety award from Kiewit Builders on this project due to our outstanding safety performance in the field.
